School Vision
Vision of Slough Sangat and Trustees
Many Sikhs send their children to be educated at Christian denominational schools believing that an education founded within the tenets of a faith is better than one within a secular environment. This is an extension of their belief that faith is not just a matter of practising rituals and ceremonies but a way of life, a way to live and engage with individuals in society. Khalsa Primary School is a Sikh Faith school and is based on the tenets of Sikhism, a religion based on the individual as part of a whole, the Sikh community, the wider community and the global community.
Sikhism is neither an exclusive religion nor an evangelical religion. It is based on the principles of inclusion and equality for all. Just as Sikhs attending Christian schools have respected the guiding principles and boundaries set within those schools, so those who are not from a Sikh background are requested to show mutual respect in Khalsa Primary School . Children for all faiths are welcome and up to 20% of places are reserved for this purpose. Their lives will be enriched by the experience of education at a Sikh school, as would the experience of Sikh children by having peers from other faiths.
We want to help to develop youngsters at Khalsa Primary School who will become good citizens within a multicultural and multiracial society, working together with mutual respect for each other and for the good of British society as a whole.
